Updated August 2023

Following Covid 19 visiting restrictions, our maternity service has now reintroduced visiting in line with Welsh Government and health board guidance.

Labour ward – Two birthing partners are allowed to visit on the central delivery suite.  No other visitors will be allowed at any time, including children.  When entering and leaving the ward at any time please use the hand gel at the doors. The use of hand gel and handwashing are encouraged at every opportunity.

Bay Birth Unit - Two birthing partners are allowed to visit in the Bay Birth Unit and siblings will also be allowed to visit following the birth. Please use hand gel or wash your hands when entering and leaving and at every opportunity.

Ward 19 Antenatal ward - One birthing partner between the hours of 10am and 8pm. Visiting, including siblings, between  4pm to 6pm. No more than four visitors at a time per bed. Visitors can change in this two hour period to allow for different visitors, but only siblings can visit - no other children are allowed.

Birthing partners may be allowed to stay overnight if labour is progressing, but this will be decided on an individual basis and discussed with the woman and her birthing partner. Please use hand gel or wash your hands when entering and leaving and at every opportunity.

Antenatal Admission Unit AAU - One birthing partner to accompany women into the unit for assessment at time.

Ward 20 postnatal ward -   One birthing partner between  10am and 8pm. Visiting, including siblings, between 4pm to 6pm. No more than four visitors at a time per bed. Visitors can change in this two hour period to allow for different visitors but only siblings can visit. No other children are allowed.

Birthing partners will not be allowed to stay overnight unless women or their babies are unwell. This will be decided on case by case and discussed with women and birthing partners.  Please use hand gel or wash your hands when entering and leaving and at every opportunity.

Important additional information

Please be aware that children are not permitted to attend hospital antenatal clinic appointments or ultrasound scan appointments. Please speak with your midwife before your appointment if you anticipate any difficulties with this.

We would still ask that birthing partners/visitors remain at home if they have a Covid 19 or have developed symptoms of Covid 19 or are unwell at all.
