Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit

Worried about symptoms in early pregnancy? Please contact the Early Pregnancy Unit on 01792 286868. You will be assessed by the triage nurse who will give advice and an appointment if clinically indicated. The unit, which is on Ward 18 at Singleton Hospital, is open Monday – Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm.

You should seek advice if you are between 6 and 14 weeks pregnant with a positive pregnancy test, and have:

  • abdominal pain
  • vaginal bleeding
  • history of previous ectopic pregnancy, tubal surgery or molar pregnancy
  • you have an Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (Coil)

If you are more than 14 weeks pregnancy, please contact your midwife.

You should attend Emergency Department immediately if you experience:

  • Severe abdominal or shoulder pain
  • Very heavy bleeding
  • Collapse, fainting, or feeling severely unwell

Patient may self-refer and will be assessed by the triage nurse who will give advice and an appointment if clinically indicated.
