About Me

Trainee Clinical Scientist

Alex joined the MRI Physics team in June 2024 as a (Route 2) trainee Clinical Scientist and is due to finish training in June 2027.

Alex completed his Physics BSc at the University of Glasgow and his PhD at Swansea University where he focussed on enhancing haemodynamic solvers with neural networks to provide real-time uncertainty quantification.

Alex previously worked at the Institute of Cancer Research in quantifying tumour cell cluster growth and at Swansea University to characterise cardiovascular adaptations to heat during exercise.

His interests are mainly computational as his background is largely in full stack data science utilising Python, R, SQL, Fortran, Perl and Common Lisp - with professional certifications in R and SQL along with currently working towards his Python professional developer certification.

Alex is excited to be a part of the team and get involved with all things MRI – especially informatics.
