Morriston Hospital is under extreme pressure

Update 22.10.24: Morriston Hospital remains exceptionally busy today.

We continue to urge the public to not come to the Emergency Department (A&E) unless absolutely unavoidable.

We'd like to thank our communities for working with us during this challenging period.

 

Morriston Hospital is under extreme pressure this evening (21.10.24) with high numbers of acutely unwell patients needing treatment and beds.

Staff are working extremely hard. But waits are much longer than we would like, especially for those who attend our Emergency Department (A&E) with less serious and non-life threatening illnesses or injuries.

But, if you have chest pains/stroke/serious illness or serious injury, DO still come to ED.

At this time you can help us by:

  • Not coming to the Emergency Department unless absolutely unavoidable. We are here for those with very serious and life-threatening illnesses and injuries. However, those with minor injuries and common ailments should choose an alternative. Go to this page on our website for advice on ways to access urgent care.
  • Collecting loved ones who have been told they can be discharged. This is better for them and will help us as we need to focus on caring for those patients who cannot go home.
