Former Swansea Bay University Health Board Chief Executive Tracy Myhill has been awarded an OBE in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Tracy, who retired in December, led the health board for almost three years, and news of her honour has been warmly received.
Health Board Chair, Emma Woollett, said:
“I am absolutely delighted that our former Chief Executive Tracy Myhill has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
“Tracy’s commitment and enthusiasm for improving NHS care and encouraging staff to be the best they could be shone through when she was with us. Receiving an OBE reflects her rich contribution to health services in Wales over a long and varied career.
“Her leadership of the health board during the start of the pandemic was inspirational, and she thoroughly deserves this honour.”
Tracy said:
“To say I’m honoured, humbled and delighted to receive Her Majesty The Queen’s Honour would be an understatement.
“This Honour represents so much to my family, my friends and me. Without the love and support I have received I could not have achieved all that I have throughout my career in the NHS and in my life more generally.
“My personal and professional journey would not have been possible without the belief others had in me throughout my thirty-six years in the NHS.
“I’ve been so privileged to have had such an extraordinary and rewarding career – from receptionist to CEO - working with so many exceptional and inspirational people.
“To all those who supported, encouraged, developed, and saw the potential in me, my thanks go to them today.
“This Honour is as much for all of you as it is for me and I hope you can all share in the pride.
“I have been, and remain, passionate about improving the health of the population and health services for the people of Wales and whilst now retired from the NHS, I remain dedicated to supporting people and organisations to be the best they can be.
“And to every receptionist out there I say, you too can achieve anything you dare to dream of!”
