This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • Some pages contain headings that are not logically ordered. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships Level A.
  • Some pages have an illogical focus order. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.3 Focus Order Level A.
  • Some images may not have an alternative text description. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1.
  • Some links do not have accessible descriptions. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.4.
  • Board and committee papers, other key documents and responses to Freedom of Information Act requests uploaded prior to September 28th, 2023, are unlikely to be in a format accessible to assistive technologies such as screen readers. To request accessible copies of board and committee papers and other key documents email sbu.boardservices@wales.nhs.uk

Disproportionate burden

We will prioritise patient information to ensure it is digitally accessible wherever possible.

But we know there are some sections of our website of a corporate nature, which are not currently accessible and which were produced between September 2018 and September 28th 2023. Retrospectively making these sections and the vast number of documents contained within them accessible constitutes a disproportionate burden.

Currently, these sections are listed as below: (and subject to change):

  • Board or committee papers
  • Performance reports which may contain complex reporting/statistical data
  • Policies and procedures produced since September 2018
  • Publications linked from our Freedom of Information pages – including disclosure logs
  • Publications which may have been professionally produced since September 2018 which would have to be fixed by a third party.

Go to our disproportionate burden assessment page for more details.

Navigation and accessing information
  • There’s no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option).
  • It’s not always possible to change the device orientation from horizontal to vertical without making it more difficult to view the content.
  • It’s not possible for users to change text size without some of the content overlapping.

Rydym yn croesawu gohebiaeth a galwadau ffôn yn y Gymraeg neu'r Saesneg. Atebir gohebiaeth Gymraeg yn y Gymraeg, ac ni fydd hyn yn arwain at oedi. Mae’r dudalen hon ar gael yn Gymraeg drwy bwyso’r botwm ar y dde ar frig y dudalen.

We welcome correspondence and telephone calls in Welsh or English. Welsh language correspondence will be replied to in Welsh, and this will not lead to a delay. This page is available in Welsh by clicking ‘Cymraeg’ at the top right of this page.
