It is important that your alcohol intake is within or lower than the recommended limit, to improve your body’s ability to cope with cancer treatment.

If you are having surgery as part of your treatment, you should not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours before.

The recommended maximum amounts for both men and women is less than 14 units per week, with no more than 3-4 units on any single day. If you regularly drink as much as 14 units per week, it is best to spread your drinking evenly over 3 or more days.

Alcohol units

A unit is around half a pint of medium strength beer, a small 125ml glass of wine, or a 25ml measure of spirits.
