Training and Qualifications

Physiotherapists complete a 3 or 4 year degree course on an approved training programme.  On completion of an approved programme they are eligible for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) which is the professional, educational and trade union body for the UK’s 47,000 Chartered Physiotherapist, Physiotherapy Students and Assistants.

Approved courses also give eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).Registration with the HCPC is an essential requirement to practice physiotherapy and call yourself a physiotherapist in the UK.

All physiotherapists working in the National Health Service must be registered with the HPC.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) website includes details on why choose physiotherapy’s career,  finding a physiotherapy degree, information on physiotherapy apprenticeships, careers, financial support for students and other resources.
