Managing the psychological demands of treatment

Cancer treatment can bring additional physical, emotional, and psychological demands.

There are a number of different psychological demands that you may experience during your treatment. What you experience will be individual to you and your personal circumstances.

Being able to recognise and act on the psychological demands will help to manage your emotional wellbeing during treatment. For example, if limited information about your treatment is troubling you, it may be helpful to seek further information from your hospital team.

You may experience some or none of these psychological demands during treatment. It is impossible to predict but psychological preparation will help you identify ways to manage and promote your emotional wellbeing during treatment.

If you are struggling with your feelings, please talk to a member of your hospital team who can put you in contact with additional support services.
