Cancer prehabilitation
Macmillan Cancer Support has created prehabilitation videos for people living with cancer.
Prehabilitation helps people living with cancer prepare their body and mind for treatment. It can include areas like physical activity, healthy eating, mental health, reducing alcohol and stopping smoking.

If you are waiting for treatment or surgery, it is understandable that you may feel worried or anxious.
It is normal to worry but it can sometimes have an effect on the body, such as headaches, muscle tension or pains, difficulty concentrating or sleeping, feeling restless or easily fatigued, among other things.
Your body needs to repair itself after surgery; eating a healthy diet before and after your surgery can really help.

Education Programmes for Patients provides a variety of free self-management courses for people living with any long-term health conditions or people in a caring role.
Regular physical activity has many benefits to health, including mental health and well being. People who are physically active have up to a 50% reduced risk of developing the major chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some cancers and a 20-30% reduced risk of premature death.
National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS)
NERS is a national initiative to promote exercise which allows health professionals to refer patients to a supervised programme of physical activity.

There are a number of services and projects available to help support people who may be experiencing social isolation.
Involve Volunteering Project is a partnership between Swansea Council for Voluntary Service, Swansea Council's Social Services Department, the health board and Swansea City of Sanctuary.
Involve recruit, train and support volunteers to be in a befriending/ Independent visitor role on a one to one or in a group setting to meet the needs of individual children, young people, families, adults with various needs or older people.

Call 111 choose option 2
Calling 111 and choosing option 2 puts callers in direct contact with a team of 20 mental health professionals based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital.
The service is available for anyone in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot with a mental health concern, including relatives who need advice.
Call 111 Option 2 is running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering a triage service and support or signposting as appropriate.

SilverCloud
SilverCloud is an online space which offers a different range of programmes based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to empower you to develop skills to manage your psychological wellbeing with more confidence, from the convenience of your own location and in your own time.
The programme is easily accessible and is compatible with any computer, tablet, iPad or smartphone, making it flexible for service users to use at locations they feel comfortable in, in their own time.

Outpatient care is being revolutionised, with the aim of reducing unnecessary routine appointments and offering more opportunities for patients to decide for themselves if and when they need to be seen.

Feel more involved and in control? The Swansea Bay Patient Portal is a secure online service which gives you access to your health information, and it’s convenient – you can access it anytime and anywhere.
If you are about to have orthopaedic surgery, you will be invited to attend a therapy pre-assessment clinic one week before your operation.
You will then receive physiotherapy input from admission to the ward to discharge home.
Physio Access Clinic (PAC)
The Physiotherapy Access Clinic is a face-face assessment clinic that will be held in the Port Talbot Resource Centre (SA12 7BJ).
This clinic is suitable for those above the age of 16, not already under the physio service and would like assessment for a musculoskeletal problem (Bone, joint, ligament, nerve etc).

Social prescribing is a service connecting people to non-medical sources that will enable them to improve their health and wellbeing.
Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) are allied health professionals. They have been trained to assess, diagnose, treat and advise people who have difficulties with speech, language and communication, or with eating, drinking and swallowing disorders.
