The Paediatric Dietetic Team at Swansea Bay University Health Board plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional health and wellbeing of children and young people across the region.
The team works with children from birth through to adolescence, addressing a wide range of medical and dietary needs.
Whether supporting children on hospital wards, in outpatient clinics, or through community services, the team provides tailored dietary advice to manage conditions such as food allergies, selective eating, weight management, diabetes, coeliac disease, and growth concerns.
They collaborate closely with families, doctors, nurses, schools, and other healthcare professionals to ensure each child receives the right nutrition to thrive.
The team also empowers families through education—helping them understand how food choices impact health, and guiding them in making sustainable changes at home, in school, and beyond. Their compassionate, child-centred approach ensures that even during illness, children are supported to grow, develop, and enjoy food in a way that suits their individual needs.
As a service we have produced short videos and advice sheets to help you understand why some children eat a smaller variety of food and to provide some ideas to support your child’s nutritional intake.
Each video covers a different topic and we would recommend you watch all videos in the series. Follow this link to watch the videos on YouTube.
